Wearing too many hats

Are you forced to wear too many hats?

If each hat represented a skill, how many do you need to wear on a daily basis in your capacity as a business owner? We presume that it would be quite a number and sometimes you’ll need to wear more than one at the same time!

During the business day you will probably need to wear a lot of them in order to ensure your business is a success and keeps moving forward but eventually one will fall off! Who is there to pick it up for you?

You are in business because you are an expert in your field, yes? Whether you are a large or small business, it may be the time to think about outsourcing some of those hats, as and when you need to, allowing you to focus on the things you are an expert in.

Just a quick analogy (or two) for you…. If your computer stopped working and you’d gone through the normal, reboot, reboot again and still nothing, would you take the back off and try to repair it yourself for the next few hours or would you call in the IT expert who could perhaps repair it in a few minutes?

If you had a burst pipe, pouring out gallons of water per second, threatening to flood your office or home, would you go to your trusty copy of ‘plumbing for dummies’ and read up how to fix it before ‘giving it a go’ or would you do your best to do a temporary fix until the emergency plumber you called arrives and uses his skill and experience to avert the disaster?  We could give you a lot more examples, but we are sure you get the picture….
